Unconditional

You carried the cross for us that was cumbersome
You looked into the eyes of the people
While enduring the whips and lashes.

Throughout Your journey
You heard harsh words echoing, "CRUCIFY HIM!"
You looked for Your friends, but they were all gone.
You heard three rooster crows
And Your heart began to sank
As someone dearest to You denied himself three times.

I can imagine that loneliness
I can imagine when all You've found is hatred
I can imagine that You had to endure all this for our sins
I can imagine six hours later, when You went through the worst.

As they nailed Your hands to the cross
And made You a spectacle
You cried out to the Father
"Forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing."

Closing Your eyes You breathed once more
Your last and final breath
You did all these to save the ones
Who choreographed Your death

The hurt, the pain, the bitterness
That lingers deep inside
The lust, the lies, the suffering
And our selfish pride.
You took them all
Because of Your Unconditional love
You suffered a painful death
That we may have everlasting life.
